Subject: Mission Scope Revision Approved

Dear Field Office Team,

In what admittedly comes as a surprise to me and many of your colleagues here at Headquarters—especially considering the reasons for my last memo—we agree with you that we should broaden the scope of this mission. I am happy to report that Director Stevens has accepted your proposed revision, though I will admit that I’m not sure he was aware of the scope to begin with. The revision is as follows:

FORMER SCOPE:

Mission Kaiju_OrgLearning_Facilitation_KM_02026

To explore the Godzilla archives and synthesize learnings about the following topics in the context of the Social Sector and social justice:

  • Facilitation
  • Knowledge Management
  • Team dynamics
  • Collaboration

REVISED AND CURRENT SCOPE:

Mission Kaiju_Love_Care_Futures_02026

To explore the Godzilla archives and synthesize learnings about how the Godzilla franchise can teach everyone about love, care, and building a future that works for all.

While this is a broad scope indeed, we believe that this change will allow members of the public to engage more meaningfully. As you have been finding in your artifact review, Godzilla is for the people. We still believe that those working in the Social Sector will benefit from our research, but to ensure the greatest reach and public engagement, the Social Sector cannot be the primary audience of this research.

We are taking two actions related to this scope change:

  1. The Administrative Staff assigned to the Godzilla Mission has been receiving citizen-submitted research questions. We believe that your proposed scope revision will allow for inclusion of questions such as these. We have asked the IT team to set up a survey for the purposes of data collection and streamlined cataloguing. Administrative staff will send these questions to the Field Office weekly on Monday mornings.
  2. Dir. Stevens has approved the creation of a Godzilla Mission Art Department to expan this mission’s exploration of what Godzilla teaches us about potential futures that work for everyone. We will announce a call for artists and keep you updated on progress. We expect you to cooperate with your new colleagues. A Press Release scheduled for later this morning will outline this in more detail.

We agree with your proposal that we publish this mission’s Research Methodology.

Please revise with the changes outlined above and submit for approval.
